The Highland Walk

Meet your guide in Pigadia for a drive of 20 minutes up to the mountains at 600 meters above sea level.

We start this hike in Pini in the suburb of Pini Volada where you get a glimpse of the life of the country side of Karpathos. You will start near the base of Art and Walk at Pini. We continue from this hamlet through an old Karpathian trail passing olive fields down to the village of Othos (the highest village of Karpathos at 510 meters above sea level).

From Othos we go directly from asphalt towards a slightly more downhill “off-road” path. Far away you can see Pigadia which is our destination and it is visible for most of this walk. After about an hour, our view changes slightly as Saint George’s Monastery appears in front of us. We take a small tea break in the shade of a stavlo.

The wind becomes a little stronger, which gives us a wonderful fan feeling as the sun begins to get warm. Suddenly Menetes becomes visible as we begin to approach Pigadia. We pass small churches and plenty of goats and sheep during our walk.
