Menetes-Kouri walk

Meet your guide in Pigadia. After a ride of about 20 minutes we reach the mountain village of Menetes where we take you directly to the village’s largest church which offers a fantastic panoramic view. From here we can see Pigadia but don’t forget to look the other way where Menetes spreads in all its splendour with its colourful houses and streets.

Get to know the spirit of the mountain village where the first settlements came as early as the Middle Ages when pirates ruled the Aegean Sea. We explore the streets a bit more before a small visit to the local bakery awaits (if it is open). The famous bakery in Karpathos for its koulouria!

Once we leave the streets of Menetes, the lush green area of Lai and Kouri is waiting just below Menetes. From here we get a very nice view of Menetes as it’s clear to see how the village is located on the slope of the mountain. We visit a sight of old tombs, an ancient water source and a small chapel on our way back to Pigadia which we finally reach after about 3,5 hours at a relaxed walking pace where lunch awaits us.
